It's the Mickey Mouse Club House

Since this is the last year I will get to make the call on J-Man's Halloween costume I figured I would dress him and his sister like Mickey and Minnie!  And man are they cute!  They wore their costumes to day care today!
Jackson pitched the biggest fit of his life when I made him put his costume on this morning!  AHHH!
But when we got to school and he saw everyone else dressed up he was ALL about being Mickey Mouse. He wanted to put the ears and gloves on and was telling everyone in the hall "I'm Mickey Mouse."  When not minutes before he was screaming "TAKE IT OFF!!"
Of course as a wise mother I knew he would love it once he got to school and saw everyone else dressed up.  He is going to have a blast today.  They are having a party and going from room to room trick or treating.
Franny Bean got to dress up too, but no sweets for her just yet.  All the babies in her room looked so cute.  They were cows and Winnie the Pooh.  Just adorable!  And check out Jackson's face here.  It's typical, I get it a lot.  He's only 2 and thinks he is smarter than me.  Which may be true.
But I must say I think I had the 2 cutest kids at school today.  I mean look at them.  Just adorable!

Kiddos in Cali

The kids and I made a quick trip to Caledonia while Matt worked this last weekend.  And when I say quick I don't think we were there a 24 hours.  Taking nap times into consideration you have to load them up between 9:00 and 10:00 and take off if you want a good nights rest that night.
So that's what we did Saturday and Sunday.  Loaded up between 9:00 and 10:00 and took off!  It was a little cool outside for too much playing.  Franny Bean and I stayed in and watched football while Jackson rotated between Big R and Gaga riding him on the 4-wheeler.
Gran and Paw came to see us and watch a little football too!
Jackson loves going to "The Farm" as he calls it.  He wants to feed the birds, the dogs, and cats.  I told my parents they were going to have to get at least one cow to make it a true farm.

Big R even arranged for some marshmellow roasting at the shop!  Obviously it was a big hit!

I mean, who doesn't love roasted marshmellows?  Even Franny ate them up.
After we cut Jackson off from marshmellows he wanted to "work" in the shop and proceeded to get into every tool box my father owns.

After he found the appropriate screw driver he put the dust cover back on "Buster's race car."
I am so glad Jackson loves tools and working on things.  Nana and Papa gave him a work bench with tools for Christmas and he spends time in his room every night playing with it.  It grabs the hammer and screw driver and goes to work on all of his toys!  But then again, he sees all the men in his life doing the same thing. He thinks he is grown.

We had a great day, but come Sunday Jackson was ready to get home and see his Daddy!  I don't blame him.  I was too!

Fratty Friday

"Say cheese!!"  Doesn't really work any more.  I get a blank stare.  So I have resorted to requesting a performance.  "Sing Ole McDonald for me" usually works well and this is what you get.
He is obsessed with farms!  He was looking at a Toys-R-Us catalog last night and had a fit over a farm set. Please note he already has 2.  He also has started going nuts wanting to watch "Ole McDonald Mickey."  What is this you ask?  Well, the Disney channel has started advertising a new Ole McDonald Mickey comeing on November 5.  Try explaining that to a 2 year old.  It doesn't go over well.  Thanks Disney.
But this morning he has his Ole Miss jersey and water boots on ready to start the day!  Doesn't every male student at Ole Miss wear this to class on Fridays?  He skipped class yesterday since he was under the weather, but I think he is on the mend and ready for a big weekend.
I was starting to believe he is a college student since he slept so much yesterday!  If only Mary Frances would have done the same.  But, today it's back to work and school!
I hope you have a great Friday and get the Ole McDonald song stuck in your head like it is mine!
Oh and we are going to a friend's house for dinner tonight and J-Man and Franny are going to wear their costumes.  I am even charging my camera battery to make sure I get plenty of pics.  It's looking promising!

Sweet Kiddos

All moms know that occasionally you find your children being sweet and playing well with each other.
Well, that is what I found the other morning when I got out of the shower.  Jackson had pulled Mary Frances over to the bed and was helping her eat.
She thinks he hung the moon so of course she was all about his attention.  He was making sure she ate all of her Cheerios and chewed them up well.

He would say "Here you go Mary Frances."  He really is a great big brother.

Look at his sweet face.  He loves her so much!

And this is her typical face.  I am not sure what it means, but she does it all the time as she kind of grunts at you.  ADORABLE!
If these pictures don't melt your heart you need to check your pulse!  Because these are just the sweetest little ones, most of the time.

Pumpkin Patch

I have learned recently that when you have small children the pumpkin patch is a must.  Jackson's first October we went to the one in Caledonia and he could barely sit up.  The next year Matt and I took him to one in Birmingham and he would trip and fall all over the pumpkin rows.
And this year we took the kids to the one in Brandon.  They had a blast!  Seeing the animals, going on a hay ride, climbing on hay, running through the hay maze, and of course picking out a pumpkin.
So handsome!  This was probably the best picture of Jackson we took.  He is too busy for pictures these days.

We were trying to take their picture in front of a turkey here, but I was scared to put them any closer to the fence.  The turkey was a bit aggressive and tried to bit some people through the fence.  I don't blame him though, he knows the owners of the farm plan on eating him in a month.  I'd be mad too.

The pumpkin patch was fun and was small enough that J-Man didn't have too far to go.  With that said, I started to notice the patch was small and there were not enough pumpkins for everyone we had seen there that day.  Then I noticed the pumpkins were all the same size and shape and they were not connected to the vines.  I figured they hauled them in, but then I saw the truck and trailer with more pumpkins sitting in the wings as we pulled away on the hay ride.
I felt a little like a kid st Disney World seeing someone take off the Mickey costume.  It's all a sham.  Oh well, the kids had fun and that's all that matters.
And since Jackson is a wild little boy, anything round is a ball and should be thrown, right?  Right.  Pick-up the pumpkin and throw it back down!

 Lord help us.

Then it was on to the corn box.  That was Mary Frances' favorite part!  Finally something her speed.

Time for more pictures!  And I can't get them to look at the camera.

This is as close as we got.

And you would think J-Man would smile with his Sheshe.  Nope, I was trying to take a picture so of course not.
 All the 'sham' loot.
And you can see behind Anna and Mary Frances under the covered barn are boxes full of the sham pumpkins.
I was so hopeful we would get one good picture of both of the kids before we left, but no luck.
They were too interested in their pumpkins to look at me.

This is Mary Frances tell me to stop taking her picture.  So another year, another pumpkin patch experience and one worn out Mama.  Gran Dan, Sheshe, and Aunt Anna went with us, but Matt was out of town at a conference and couldn't go.  But it's ok, he is going to help us carve the pumpkins one night.
