Vacation

Most people go to the beach on vacation, maybe even Disney World and we did go to the beach in April, but for Matt's week of vacation and my last week of maternity leave in July we stayed at home and did the things around the house that we had been meaning to do since we moved in back in February.  Things like, you know, hag pictures and paint furniture.  The Bigs would go to school during the day and we would do things around the house between entertaining Rook since he hadn't started school yet.
Pictures/art finally hung in the den, playroom, and master bedroom.
I still need to find something to go on either side of the mirror above our bed.  Suggestions welcome.
Matt even let me sneak away to the pool for an hour.  It was so fabulous!
Check out my plate wall.  I am pretty proud of this idea.  I got a plate from all our mothers and grandmothers to hang in the dining room.  It's a great sentimental and cost effective decorating idea!
Matt also pained the buffet above blue and the dining table below grey with chalk paint.  They turned out great!

This is what I was talking about when I said entertaining Rook.  He was fussy unless we were holding him and I had stuff to do.  Hence the laundry needing to be folded above.
I painted the lamps below silver.  This is the before and after picture.  I just used spray paint and they turned out great!  They were hand-me-downs from Gran and Paw which is fabulous because do you know how expensive lamps are?  Really expensive!  Even at Target.

And here are some in progress pictures of Matt's painting work.  We really did get a lot done, but still have a lot to do the next time Matt takes vacation.  Like hang pictures in the kids room, make book shelves in the hall between the kids rooms, and cover the coffee table in the living room like the pictures I found on Pintrest :).  But we'll get there and maybe even before we've been in the house a year.
I know this post is a little late, but I had to show off Matt's handy work.  He will be on vacation in 2 more weeks, I'll post more progress then.  And maybe even show off some of the fall decorations.  I love pumpkins and fall decorations.
