When Did You Become A Gator Spot 2009

This is the "When Did You Become a Gator" ad I was talking about. It gives me chills every time I see it. I think about being a rebel and everything it means to me.

Paging Dr. Miller

So I was hoping Jackson could wear this for Halloween, but I think it will be too small by then. He grows so fast I get behind on his outfits and he's grown out of them before I know it. We put the scrub jumper on him and it was cute, but THEN we put the matching hat and scrub booties on him and OH MY GOODNESS!! Just when you thought he couldn't be any cuter!! He was trying so hard to sit up, but he kept falling over.

He figured it out though! Such a big boy!

Jackson's Rebellion

What do you do as a parent when your child goes his own way and does not listen to you? Matt and I thought we had a while before we had to worry about this, but it has already happened at 3 months old! We are not strict parents, we have told him from day one he could grow up to be anything he wanted to be except a democrat or an ambulance chasing lawyer (it's the same thing as a democrat). Little did we know we were forgetting something and that something is a BIG something. Look what Jackson informed us of tonight - that he is a.............................................................................................................................................

You got it an Alabama fan!!!! WHAT? Where did that come from? He told us that in his short 3 months he has become too stressed following Ole Miss football and he can't live that way his whole life. What do you do as a parent? The kid has a point. We have assured him that everyone goes through their ups and downs and he just so happen to be born during Ole Miss' down year. He is hard headed like his Big R so I am not sure there is anything we can do with him.

Just kidding - My dad and I always joke that we are going to be Alabama fans when Ole Miss pulls a stunt like they have this season and for the entire Coach O rein we were Bama fans! HA HA! So when I found this onesie for $10 I thought it would be a good blog. Jackson is a rebel through and through. It's like the University of FL commercial that gives me chill bumps. It asked "When did you become a Gator? When you received your acceptance letter, when you took your first breath," so on and so forth. Well for Jackson and me it was when we took our first breath! And for Matt it was when he fell in love with a rebel! :)

I hope you enjoyed my goofy blog for the day (I am sure Jackson's PawPaw,Uncle Konnie, Uncle Johhny, and Uncle Kevin enjoyed it until I said "just kidding") Happy Tuesday!

Jackson's First Football Game

Jackson has watched plenty of football in the last month, but he has not been to a game in person. Cellular South's Y'all vs Us sponsored the Jackson Academy @ Jackson Prep game so we thought it would be a great time to take him to a game. We had a good time!! Jackson got to meet a lot of the people I work with and they got to ooh and ahh over him. Everyone was really funny - I'll bet we were asked 5 times if we had decided where Jackson would go to school. WHAT? I just figured out what diapers I like best, do I already have to decide on schools? Well, around here apparently you do, there are waiting lists. The good news is NW Rankin and Madison Central (the public schools) don't have waiting lists :). Besides - we don't even know where we will be living when Jackson starts school. Matt may have moved us to Ohio!!
Background on this picture - Prep is red and blue and JA is blue and grey. Prep fans had gotten together and wore all red. So when we sat on the Prep side all wearing blue and grey the Prep fans promptly gave us this sticker and a pom pom. Jackson was getting tired, he had been on sensory overload! Between the fireworks, the outburst of yelling, and the band he was not sure what was going on!
This picture is a framer!!
And our family pic!!!

Fratty Friday

Mirror mirror on the wall who is the frattiest of them all? Jackson!!! He looks like a little man! Now all he needs is a dirty Z71 with a 4-wheeler in the back and a KA tag on the front. This is by far my favorite Fratty Friday outfit. Jackson's Gran Dan and She She came into town last night! She she got up with Jackson once last night so Matt and I didn't have to and she and Gran Dan also did Fratty Friday with Jackson this morning! I left them with very specific instructions - they had to get it done first thing this morning and they had to sing "Finally Friday" to him! So thank you to them and thank you to Munchkin and Big R for the fratty outfit!

Jackson will go to his first football game tonight! The JA/Prep game. You can't much frattier than that! Or as Unlce Buster would say - "it's the center of the universe." Cellular South is sponsoring the game - Y'all vs Us and we thought it would be fun to take him. He'll probably sleep through the entire thing though. I'll take plenty of pictures.

3 Month Old Birthday

Now that I figured out how to easily post videos I will post them a lot more. This was taken last Thursday on Jackson's 3 month old birthday. He was so happy and hamming it up. I was glad he kept it up when I turned the video camera on because he usually stops doing what ever he was doing before when I try to video him.

The Dougie

I have been meaning to post this for a while now, but I am just getting around to it. We recorded it Aug 9 and it is crazy to see how much bigger he is now. When we do The Dougie now he laughs and smiles. Please excuse my double chin in the video.

Weekend in Review

Despite the Rebels and Giants losing in an embarrassing way we had a wonderful weekend at our house! Matt and I were home from work early on Friday so we all hung out and took a 2 hour nap! When we got up we went to our favorite restaurant (Newk's) and then on to the hospital to see KJ. Melissa and Kevin's new bundle of joy (no pictures, sorry)! He is so cute, he looks like a little man. And Jackson is excited because they live around the corner from us so he has a playmate close. On Saturday we were up and at em because College Game Day was on!This is Jackson and Matt watching College Game Day together. The first of many! This is the only picture I took on Saturday, we were in mourning the rest of the afternoon. Until we went to Sophie and Spencer's first birthday party and had a great time! I work with their parents Brian and Dianna (I forgot my camera of course). They are so adorable! They were so intrigued by Jackson. It was funny.
On Sunday it was off to church and back home for some more down time. We went for a walk and put Jackson in the stroller without his car seat for the first time and he loved it! He's getting so big!
When we got back it was time for PJ's! We have started putting him in his bumpo already to work on his head control! Look how well he does. With those footed PJ's on he looks like a smurf. He looks like a grown up. :(

Last but not least Becca came to visit on Wednesday, I have just not had time to post the picture. We saw her in NOLA, but she had not met Jackson. It was so good to see her. I had not seen her in 5 years! She lives a fabulous life in the Caribbean working on yachts. How cool? Aunt Shay came over to see her too! Jackson does not know how lucky he is to be surrounded by such beautiful Phi Mu's. He will one day though!

Fratty Friday

Knox crashed our photo shoot this morning so Jackson was watching him and not looking at me. He has become more aware of the dogs now, but they have been well aware of him since day one! He had a full tummy so he was really happy and hamming it up!
We have a big weekend planned, we're watching football on the couch from the comfort of our own home ALL weekend long. So much football so little time.

Happy Friday!

3 Months Old

Jacksie Man is 3 months old today! He is so funny and full of life now. He smiles and laughs and it just melts your heart. He has spent a lot of quality time with his Dad lately which I am excited about. Matt has been leaving the hospital around 2:00 or 3:00 every day so he goes to pick up the J man and they hang out until I get home from work. It will not be like that much longer especially when Matt does his 12 week rotation in surgery. He will be luck to see us awake.

What is Jackson up to at 3 months:
- He still loves to eat, but has stayed on his schedule of 5:30, 9:30, and 1:30 a.m. and p.m.

- He is still sleeping through the night (except Wednesday night when he woke up and wanted to eat twice. I think he is going through a growth spurt) and skips his 1:30 a.m. feeding which makes me really happy.
- He smiles, laughs, and coos. We calling it hamming it up.

- He loves watching TV. Especially Fox and Friends and Sports Center. He is glued to it in the mornings while I change his diaper.

-He slept in his crib for the first time on Monday night and did really well.

-He wonders why what his real name is since we call him a million nick names - Jacksie man, J man, short stack, bug a boo, peanut (of course), budreaux, booger, the little guy, and my personal favorite the short guy. Maybe we will settle on one nick name soon. Oh and fatty or cheeks.

- He is in a great mood in the mornings and naps while I put my make-up on until we get to day care.

- He is a little fussy in the afternoons, but we usually just feed him a little bottle and he is good. I am not sure whether it is good parenting or not, but if he cries we stick a bottle in his mouth and he stops crying. I guess we'll stop doing that if he gains too much weight.

NOLA

We had a great time in New Orleans watching the Rebels play this weekend. Luckily they played better than they did last weekend. There were a ton of Ole Miss fans there and we saw so many people we knew! I took some pictures, but of course failed to take others. Here is what I do have:

Before the south Louisiana heatAfter the south Louisiana heat:

And here is Jason and Kaitlyn. Some how they were not phased by the heat?? They still looked great! Kaitlyn is a trooper - she graduated from state, but never said one ugly word about Ole Miss and even wore blue. She's a better woman than I am! Matt had to become an Ole Miss fan for me!
Lee and Lisha came in for the game and so did Lauren and Madison, but of course this is the only picture I took: Again this was after being in the heat.

Check out Lee behind us - he's ready to go inside the super dome and get out of the heat! Who knew it could get any hotter than it does in Jackson. Oh, but it does.

I took this picture on our way home. Jackson stayed with his Gran Dan and She She in Baton Rouge while we were in New Orleans. It was the first time I was away from him and I missed him terribly, but we had a good time and he had a wonderful time with his grandparents being spoiled all weekend. But I took this picture of his cheeks because I am obsessed with them. They are so fat and just hang! I LOVE them. Jackson got to meet his Uncle Lee and Aunt Lisha this weekend. Of course it was love at first sight for all involved. We also ate lunch with Matt's parents for Mrs. Shelia's birthday. She got to spend her birthday with Jackson and I think that is they only thing she wanted. What a weekend. Last and not least - I got to see my friend Becca Lee that I have not seen since mine and Matt's wedding 5 years ago. She works on yachts in the Caribbean so she does not get back much. It was SO good to see her. I have missed her! She is also coming through town and will stop to see us so hopefully I will remember to take a picture then! Now I need another weekend to recover.

Fratty Friday

A picture is worth 1,000 words so needless to say our photo shoot didn't go so well this morning. Jackson was a sleepy head! And I know his outfit is not really 'fratty', but it is what future frat guys wear when they are little guys. So today is Future Fratty Friday! It may not be fratty, but I do think it is the cutest outfit ever!! A big thanks to Ben and Shannon Bevelle for giving it to him! Ben is in Matt's class and his mom mae it! Notice the football buttons at the top.In this picture he is saying "Here's looking at you kid" with his hand motion!
And this picture fully illustrates his food storage ability in those cheeks! Uncle Buster stayed with us last night (and I still didn't get a picture) and he was amazed as everyone is about how much Jackson eats. It is staggering. He should be eating 4 ounces, but he likes eating 7 ounces. It's just how he rolls!

And I took this picture yesterday morning for our moms and grandmothers! I knew they would love to see Matt in his scrubs and short coat. Only one more year and he will have a long coat! Doesn't he look so cute?? Does this qualify for a man in uniform?

Thanks Grandmaw

Jackson's Great Grandmaw made him a car seat cover and it is adorable!! It has Indy cars on one side and a checkered flag on the other! We saw one while I was pregnant with Jackson and she made one for him. It will be perfect this winter when it is so cold outside and we are lugging him in and out of day care and restaurants!
Many many thanks! We love it!

Lazy Labor Day Weekend

Matt was suppose to work Saturday and Sunday, but when he got home on Saturday he told us his attending let him have Sunday off. Jackson and I were SO excited! We did not make any plans other than to hang out together and enjoy some rare down time! So on Sunday after church Jackson and I took a nap in bed while Matt studied. Today has not been too much more productive. Eating at lunch at Newk's and then at Jenna and Zach's for dinner was all we did today! Jenna is in Matt's med school class and her and her husband live in our neighborhood so we walked to their house and Jackson loved getting out. The weather was awesome!

We gave the Bumpo a try today and Jackson sat up in it pretty well. We can start putting him in it to work on his head control. He has had great head control for his age since he was born, but I think that is because he has a small head like his parents.

Game Day

The day started off so promising and beautiful, but ended with heartbreak and disappointment. Jackson's face sums it all up and we were just as upset as he was. But Saturday was a big day of first regardless of how the rebels played. It was a beautiful fall morning when Jackson and I woke up. I gave him a bath and put him in his bouncer to watch College Game Day for the first time. He seemed to really like it until he fell asleep. When he woke up his Big R and Munchkin had arrived and Daddy had gotten home from work. We headed out to Barry and Macey's and on the way over he fell asleep again and slept until halftime of the game. He slept through the best part of the game. Here are the pictures of Jackson watching game day. Look how happy he was. In the picture below he was looking over my shoulder trying to see the TV while I took his picture. Typical male.

This was at Barry and Macey's. He slept SO long. Look at those cheeks. He's storing food in there for the winter. He decided to wake up for the second half, but the second half was ugly.

I know the rebels played terrible, well at least the defense did, but I am not down about our entire season. I think we will still do well this year and this is coming from the person who threatens to be an Alabama fan every year when we do something bone headed like this. I explained to Jackson that this is Ole Miss' MO, we have to do something bone headed every year. I am hoping we can go to the Vandy game and take Jackson to the Grove for the first time, but we will have to see what Matt's schedule looks like. So for now the rebels put a damper on our weekend, but we will survive, we always do.

Fratty Friday

Sorry it's been so long since my last post, but it has been a crazy week! I give you a quick recap, but first things first, it's Fratty Friday Day!!!!!!!!! Jackson is wearing his fratty Nike Ole Miss gear that his Aunt Corey gave him. It is still a little big, but he was dying to wear it and he is super excited about seeing his rebels play tomorrow. We cannot go to Oxford because Matt has to work Saturday morning so we invited ourselves over to Barry and Macey's to watch the game. We cannot watch it at home because we have satellite and don't get CSS. AHHH! Our photo shoot did not last all that long this morning because Jackson was fussy since he is sick and mama over slept. Jackson watched his first college football game last night at Mr. Jarrod and Mrs. Jamie's house and I didn't even get a picture of it! :( But I will get one tomorrow for sure when Ole Miss plays!

So that was a lot of information to start Fratty Friday off with, but to catch everyone up:

Yes I said Jackson is sick. Matt brought a cold home from the hospital and gave it to Jackson and me last weekend when Uncle Buster was in town (I didn't get pictures of that either). By Wednesday Jackson was so stuffy I took him on the doctor even though he had not run a fever. He has been such a little trooper. He has not been too fussy and slept through the night every night this week. While I was with him at the doctor's office his She She came up to keep him. I didn't want to get the other kids at day care sick. She stayed until yesterday and his Aunt Anna is keeping him today.

I overslept this morning because I was making a beeline for bed last night when we got home. I was so sleepy! We have a rigid routine (I will blog about it sometime) every morning and night because that's what it takes to get everything done. I don't mind it, in fact I really kind of like it. So in my mad dash to bed I failed to get my phone out of Jackson's diaper bag. So this morning my alarm went off for 23 minutes before Jackson woke us up to let us know it was Fratty Friday and feeding time. We worked it out though and Matt and I made it to work on time.

So Uncle Buster came to visit, we got sick, we went to the doctor, She She came to keep Jackson, Jackson watched his first college football game, and that brings us to Fratty Friday! Whew.... What a week. Now it's time for the Labor Day weekend. Big R and Munchkin will be here tomorrow and we'll watch some Ole Miss football. What a weekend!!
