Fratty Friday

It's Fratty Friday again!! Our own little Ole Miss Rebel!!

6 Weeks Old

Jackson was 6 weeks old on Wednesday and on Thursday it was like he woke up!! He is a different more alert baby all of the sudden. He now smiles as a reaction to what you are doing and not just a face movement. He is also more playful when he is awake, but look how cute he is when he sleeps!!!! He had his nails cut by his dad for the first time on his 6 week birthday, but he slept right through it!

I am not sure what it is about Thursdays, but he eats SO much before bed on Thursdays. Last Thursday we took him to CMDA bible study and he ate 9oz of milk when we got home and he did the SAME thing last night when we got home!! It's nuts!! He does not even spit up. Where is he putting all this food?? I think it's in his cheeks as you can tell from the picture below. Let's just hope he's not getting ready for "Thirsty Thursdays" on the square when he's older!!

Bath time!! He LOVES baths now. He use to HATE them, but we figured out how to keep him warm so he is ALL about it now. I bathe him every other day now due to his little rash and he smells SO good when we are finished.

All My Men

All my men hanging out together! I am sure you are thinking all Matt does is read, well you are right!! If it's not a book it's a quiz on the computer. God love him. He works so hard, but squeezes in time for us.

Funday Sunday

Sunday was a BIG day for Jackson, he had his first trip to church and he got to meet his Aunt Anna!He got all dressed up for church, actually Matt got him all dressed up for church. And in the process Matt had to change his shirt after getting him ready. I almost told Matt to change Jackson and then put his shirt on. Oh well, you live and you learn.

He did so well at church. The loud music didn't bother him, but the quietness did a little. When the music stopped to pray he fussed a little, but fell right back asleep when the music started back. To be on the safe side we took him in the room right off the sanctuary when Chip started preaching. We hung out in there with 2 other families with babies, a new experience.Aunt Anna's home!!!! We are so glad she is back and finally got to meet her little nephew! He even woke up for her at the airport. She had a great experience in India, but we sure are glad she is home.

This was the first time she held him!

Fratty Friday

Another Fratty Friday! Look at those chubby thighs! Aunt Shay said they looked like Twix Bars when he was born, I think they look more like king size Snicker Bars now!

Look at that smile!!

I had to post a pic of Jackson and to prove I existed. I am always the one behind the camera so I had to get a pic of the little man and me to prove to him I was around when he's older.

10 Pound Funny Man

We went to the doctor yesterday because Jackson has this rash on his face. I had to put little mittens on him to stop him from scratching his face. The good news is the treatment for his rash is just bathing him in Head and Shoulders shampoo and the other good news is he weighs 10 pounds!!! I could not believe it when the nurse told me. He is getting SO big.

Before the rash - The rash -

We went for Jackson's first walk on Monday and he loved it! It was warm outside and the vibration of the stroller put him right to sleep. You'll notice the "net" over his car seat, well that is his homemade mosquito net. I have not been taking him walking with me because I was afraid misquotes would bite him, so Gran made this net so I can take him with me to walk in the evenings. Mommy has to get back in shape!!

I discovered today that Jackson likes Grey's Anatomy! Lifetime plays Grey's and Desperate Housewives for hours each day and I leave it on as I am doing things around the house and taking care of Jackson. I put him in his bouncer during his awake time this afternoon and no matter which way I turned his bouncer his head turned to the TV. I don't think he can see that far, I think he was just following the sound, but it is funny that he looked so into the surgeries they were doing. I told him it was great he was showing an interest in surgery, but he could grow up to be whatever he wanted and did not have to be a doctor like his dad as long as he was respectful of other people and honest. I was telling Matt about it when he got home and Matt said the SAME exact thing, but he also added he had to be a republican. How could I have forgotten about that? I am going to blame it on lack of sleep. Lastly we have a funny man on our hands. Matt was strapping Jackson in his car seat to go for a walk last night and he gets so content nothing bothers him. Matt tilted the seat up to look at the back and Jackson could have cared less. He had the funniest in a comma look on his face.

1 Month Old and Frattastic

Jackson is 1 month old today and it's Fratty Friday!! This is a new born outfit and the shorts are still a little big for him, but what says fratty better seersucker? All of his sweet aunts gave him this outfit at my surprise shower in Houston! Thanks girls!!

In true big boy fashion he only woke up once again last night at 3:30!!! Now if I can get him to sleep until 5:00 we will be in business, but I am not complaining and I am so happy with how far he has come.

Gran and Paw came down for a day to hang out with us while Matt was on call. We like having the company! And this weekend we will have even more company, Munchkin and Big R are coming down for Munchkin's birthday, Gran Dan and She-She will be here for the day, Kevin and Kayla Hatcher are coming to meet Jackson, and so is his Auntie Quanie!! We are excited to see everyone. Jackson is a social butterfly!

Happy Birthday to My Men

We have a lot to celebrate around our house. Monday was Matt's 27th birthday and Jackson is 4 weeks old today! We spent Matt's birthday at home with our little man and had Newk's for dinner, it's what he wanted!! And the cobbler was edible! This is Matt's ice cream cake from the weekend. I am sure you noticed the cake only has a 2 on it because we did not have a 7. I am not sure why though - I turned 27 not that long ago?? Oh well, some things have to slip when you have a new born. Is Jackson still considered a new born at 4 weeks? Even if he's not I am still going to say he is. This is his 4 week old picture. He is so fresh and clean from his bath and he smells so GOOD!
Milestones he has made:
* Still working on holding his head up for extended periods of time
* Only waking up once a night (Praise God!!)
* Not crying during diaper changes any more
* Not crying during bathes any more
* Eating like there is no tomorrow. He eats 5 oz at a time and I am having to supplement him with formula too because I have not caught up with him. He is also taking 1 tablespoon of cereal with his night bottle and 1/2 a tablespoon of cereal with a bottle during the day. It is a lot of work to fill this kid up!
*He's still not a huge fan of his swing or bouncer, but he is coming around. He will sit in his bouncer on the table while we eat dinner.
Look how big he is getting!! His head goes up to the top of his swing head rest! And look at how fat his little face is!

Gran Dan and She She

Gran Dan and She She came to visit this weekend and to make a special delivery, Jackson's cradle! Mr. Dan built a cradle for Jackson and it looks amazing!! He built one 27 years ago for Matt, but it burned in their house fire 3 years ago. Little Jackson loves it and only woke up once his first night in it. The other piece that equation was his She She was keeping him so his mama and daddy could sleep. I KNEW he would sleep like a champ for her (grr). I pumped like a mad woman and saved up enough milk so that we could pull this off. Matt and I slept all night and Jackson's She She had him all to herself!! Everyone was happy. Now let's see if he sleeps for me tonight (prayers are welcomed). And to make the weekend even better we got to Skype with Anna and she saw Jackson for the first time other than in a picture! She will be back from India at the end of this month and I know she cannot wait to get her hands on her little nephew.
In other news tomorrow is Matt's birthday. He has to work, but has the weekend off. Yes, weekend, that is Saturday AND Sunday! I cannot wait and I know he is ready for some R and R. I made him a peach cobbler from scratch, I even peeled the peaches. Now let's just hope it is eatable. I will report back. If worse comes to worst we will still have homemade vanilla ice cream Matt made for the 4th.As promised Fratty Friday's have arrived. I will do better and post these pictures on Fridays from now on, but Friday, July 9, 2010 was Jackson's first Fratty Friday! He wore his red polo jumper! How cute is he?? He looks well on his way to the KA house at Ole Miss. I think this picture might be my favorite pic of all time!

3 Weeks Old

This puppy was the best investment! He has a pacifier attached to him. It makes it so much easier to keep in Jackson's mouth. He also likes cuddeling with it. He was in his Munchkin's lap.

I have not posted in a week and that would be because I am flying solo! Say a prayer for me!! My mom left on Monday so it has just been Jackson and me for the first time since we came home from the hospital. Although the pups are here and have been good they are not a lot of help. Let me catch everyone up:

Big R and Munchkin were here for the 4th, but we did not do much. There is not a whole lot you can do for the 4th with a 2 week old. My grandparents and Uncle Billy and Aunt Laura stopped by again on there way to the airport. Matt was off on Monday (but not on the 4th?) so we had some our medical school friends over so they could see Jackson. He had a big time and had 3 wardrobe changes due to spit ups and a tinkle accident during a diaper change. I wish I had taken pictures, but he wore his red polo oneise, then his Run DMC onesie, and lastly his Ole Miss onesie. He could have had another wardrobe change because he spit up again, but I just left him in it until bed time. It didn't seem to bother him.
Jackson is 3 weeks old today and here is what he is doing:

STILL not sleeping at night

Eating every hour and a half during the day

Eating for 2 and 3 hours at a time at night

I am running out of food for him so the lactation consultant and his pediatrician said I can mix formula into his diet as well as rice cereal at night. I will do the cereal for the first time tonight, I'll let you know how that goes. If he sleeps for 3 hours and eats for 30 minutes at a time I won't know how to act!!

He now has a double chin

He fits in his NB clothes much better

He is getting better about diaper changes, he does not scream every time

His umbilical cord has fallen off

His plasti bell is hanging by a thread

Gas does not seem to be a problem any more (knock on wood)

He is so cute and he has some many people that love him!! Even with his lack of sleep at night he really is a good baby!

2 Weeks Old Yesterday

Jackson was 2 weeks old yesterday and is getting SO big! We had his 2 week doctor's appointment today and he has gained 1 and a half pounds and grew an inch and a half since we came home from the hospital. So that puts him at 7lbs 10oz and 21 inches long. He is in the 40% for height, 50% for weight, and 10% for head size. He has a small head, no big shocker there!!

He is trying to be a big boy too fast for me. He holds his head up and rolled over in bed the other night. He needs to slow it down or he will be crawling next month!

I took these pictures yesterday on his 2 week birthday
In other news Gran and Paw left today, but Munchkin is here so we are not going it alone yet. We took this picture of 4 generations and it looks like the one we took 28 years ago with my great-grandmother, Gran, and Mama. It was so good to have Gran and Paw here and I know they loved spending the time with Jackson and me because we loved spending time with them. My Uncle Billy and Aunt Laura flew in for the holiday weekend and of course came by here first to see Jacksie Man before they headed home with Gran and Paw.

Lastly, poor Matt has been working and studying so hard in June he is worn slap out. He gets 4 days off a month and took them all when Jackson was born so he is ready for July. Monday is his first day off and I cannot wait and I know he can't either. He can sleep late and play with Jackson all day long. We are so grateful he is working so hard!
