Fratty Friday

Fridays have always been my favorite day, but now that we have Jackson I love them even more, for several reasons. Matt or I will sing George Jones (who I love almost as much as I love Ronald Reagan) 'Finally Friday' to Jackson, it means the weekend is starting, and it's Fratty Friday. This morning after Matt fed and sang (Matt knows ALL the words) to Jackson I asked him if he was ready for me to change him and put his Fratty Friday clothes on him, his face light up and he smiled really big!! It was adorable. I did have to have a talk with him this morning about Fratty Friday and daycare. This is his first Friday at daycare and I told him the other babies may be jealous of Fratty Friday, but that he should be gracious and explain to them they can start their own Friday traditions. We also talked about Ole Miss/College football starting in one week. He could not understand how anything could be better than the NFL preseason games we have already been watching, but we explained that does not hold a candle to SEC football!! After all this talking and life lessons it was time for a photo shoot in bed. This is his ultra cool pose - He's thinking 'What??'
This is more of a confused look like 'why do you have to take SO many pictures? Enough already mom!' And notice that hair do!! The mohawk is courtesy of dad, the man who does not believe in brushing hair.
And finally for the fully body shot with his collar popped and his socks from Aunt Lisha!! What a stud!

My How Things Change

Just over a year ago our small group was the self proclaimed "child free" small group, fast forward one year later and we are apparently a baby factory. Forget a nice quiet Bible study and dinner, it's 24/7 child wrangling. Max is 14 months old, Emma is 8 months old, and Jackson is 2 1/2 months old! We started having them and I am sure we are not done. We'll see how full we can get. This picture is awesome, but even better was the look Jackson was giving Emma earlier in the night. She had a bottle and he was jealous! We all know how he loves to eat (like his mama) and he was trying to sweet talk her into sharing. She was not having any of it. She kept it all to herself. Last night was the first time all the kids were together and it was fun, noisy and busy, but fun. I will keep you posted on any new additions as I am sure we will be adding more!

First Swim, First Shoes, First Church Nursery

This was a weekend of many first. Aunt Anna took Jackson for his first swim in my whale pool on Friday!!
She also gave him his first Mohawk!!
Shirtless - She had to put his shirt on him to keep the ladies away!!

He wore shoes for the first time today to church! Thanks for the shoes Aunt Denise and for the outfit Laura S!! He was a stud! He also went to the nursery at church for the first time today and tricked them into feeding him early. He loves to eat and he's no fool!

And in the biggest news of all he slept all night last night!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yup. We fed him at 11:00 and when he started fussing to eat again I looked at the clock and it said 5:00 a.m. I couldn't believe my eyes!! I was so excited. Now we are crossing our fingers he does it again, but I am not holding my breathe.

He starts day care tomorrow. Matt is going with me to drop him off and get all the details. I have put his name or initials on everything that stands still. I am wondering if I should sharpie his name on him. Maybe on his bottom like a cabbage patch kid. We would really like to find a nanny to stay at home with him. Any suggestions out there? We thought about maybe one from the Ukraine :)

Fratty Friday

It's Friday and you know what that means!! Not only is it Fratty Friday, but it is Papa's (Who Jackson is named after) birthday! So Happy Birthday POPS!! We love you!!

I would like to thank Mrs. Anne and Mr. David Beyer for this Fratty outfit! It says Ole Miss on one side and Rebels on the other. Jackson was 9 weeks old on Wednesday and the outfit he has on in the picture is a 3-6 month!! He is such a big boy. He loves sitting in his bouncer in the mornings while I get ready. We talk, he kicks, and laughs. He also loves looking at himself in the mirror. I told him he is very handsome, but he does not need to be vain! He has officially moved to 4 hour feedings which is awesome for so many reasons!! The main one being his night sleep. I feed him at 9:00 and then he is all Matt's while I go to bed. I get up with him once at night at 1:00 then we're up at 5:00 to start our day. No complaints here. I'll take it!

Today is Jackson's last day at home. His Aunt Anna has been with him this week, but next week it is off to day care. I think he will like it, or at least that is what I am telling myself. He really will though, he's so social!!

Jackson and I would also like to request that our friends Elle and Lisha over at Life with the Luphers get some Animal Print Friday pics posted. They are slacking and we need some Animal Print Fridays in our life. Have a good weekend everyone!!

Road Trip

After Jackson got his first set of shots we loaded the car and headed to Birmingham. He woke up in the car after being on the road for an hour and a half, but it was time for him to eat. After being fed and getting a diaper change he fell back asleep and made it another hour. He was not very happy when he woke up for the second time and I was starting to question my sanity for taking a 2 month old on a road trip after shots. The doctor told us not to give him Tylenol unless he ran a fever. Well, after he woke up for the second time and we still had an hour left on the road I gave him some Tylenol and he stopped feeling bad. Matt was against it, but I guess it was a mother's instinct. I could tell my little guy felt bad. Once we made it to Birmingham (an hour later than it should have) it was all worth it to see the look on Matt's grandparents' face when they saw Jackson for the first time. After all he is named after them.

This was us trying to take a picture before we left on Sunday. Babies don't really get into taking pictures. Nana could not have been happier and Jackson looked like he was enjoying it too!!
Grant (Matt's youngest cousin) was GREAT with him!! He fed him, and even burped him. Now if we can get him to change diapers we'll be in god shape. FYI - He is growing his hair out for the 3rd time to have it cut for locks of love. He is such a sweet heart. How many 7th grade boys would do that?
This was the final picture we went with. The ceiling fan was on so Jackson was glued to it.
Look at that face!!
Daddy and son!
This was Saturday afternoon when we took Jackson to shop. Look how much stuff we had to take along. I only wish I had taken a picture of all the luggage we took for the weekend.
My Aunt Teresa, Uncle Bo, Carrie, and her fiance Rory came to meet Jackson while we were in town since they live in Bham too. Aunt Teresa didn't let anyone else hold Jackson, I think she liked him a little.

Fratty Friday

The past two Friday's since I have started back to work I sing George Jones "Finally Friday" to Jackson every Friday morning. I think he likes it because he knows that means I will be spending time with him again AND because that means it's Fratty Friday. He told me this morning that "his collar was made to be popped." I told him to slow down big fella, but I guess we are breading that attitude. I sat him up on his Dad's pillow this morning for his photo op. Look at that yawn! He was slipping into his milk comma.

And this is my new favorite picture of him!!!!! SO cute.

Matt took him out of his bouncer on the table after we finished eating and he sat there like a big boy!

In other news Jackson ate at 1:00 a.m. and did not eat again until 6:00 a.m. I wish I could report that he slept the entire time, but he didn't. The good news though is that he is on track to eat less at night and hopefully in turn sleep more. Or at least that is what I am telling myself.

Jackson gets his shots today. Say a prayer for us!

8 Weeks Old

It is so hard to believe that Jackson is 8 weeks old today! Where has the time gone? I mean 2 whole months!! He has been staying at home without me for a week and a half now. A big thank you to Paw, Gran, and Munchkin for keeping him while I am at work making money to buy him french fries and ponies! Next week Jackson's Aunt Anna will be keeping him. Matt and I have begun toying with the idea of everyone keeping this rotation going and keep him out of day care or going to day care very little. We have such pipe dreams.
Jackson has his 8 week appointment on Friday and I cannot wait to see how much he weighs!! BUT I can wait for those shots. The poor little guy does not know what's coming.
That is a 3 month outfit I put on him this morning!! Can you believe it? He was looking at the ceiling fan. He loves watching it spin. And look at that double chin in the picture below. Is that not the cutest double chin you have ever seen!!!In other news we are making our first road trip with him this weekend. We are packing it up to go meet his Nana and Papa!! Say a prayer for us, but I am betting he will do great. We'll feed him, stick him in his car seat, and take off. The hard part will be remembering to pack everything he needs while we are gone. I can see us trading the Tahoe in soon for a Suburban!!

7 Weeks Old

Jackson is 7 weeks old today and continues to change every day! It is so much fun to watch him progress and hit milestones. He is so alert! He'll smile at you and follow your face. I love coming home to him at night!
Jackson wanted to wear his shark shirt today since it is "Shark Week!"

Work and Play

My last day at home was Sunday and in true social butterfly form Jackson had to attend yet another social event. Hayes Baker is in Matt's med school class and had a birthday party Sunday night. When Matt asked what we could bring the response was "just little Jackson." Gran and Paw had just gotten into town and I hated leaving them at our house without their great-grand baby, but Matt and I were afraid his friends would turn us away at the door if we didn't bring him. So off we went with Jackson in tow. He was the most popular person at the party. Even more so than the birthday girl, but the birthday girl did get to feed him!

Other than being fed Jackson slept through most of it. He is a narcoleptic like his mama. And check out that golf outfit. You will be seeing it repeated on Fratty Friday. It is also a 3 month outfit!!!!
And here is a family pictures. Again Jackson was asleep!

Look how fat my baby has gotten in 2 short weeks!! I LOVE it!! This picture was taken on 7-18-10 and the picture below it was taken on 8-2-10 before I left for work on Monday morning! He has not gotten the nickname Chub Chub for nothing!

This is the picture of me before I left for my first day back at work. I wanted to take it with Jackson, but he was sleeping and you don't mess with a sleeping baby! My first day went well mainly because I knew Jackson was at home with Gran and Paw. Of course he did great, better than mama. I am loving my office's flex time. I can get into work at 7:30, leave by 4:30 and be home by straight up 5:00 most days to feed the little man. What this picture does not show was all the bags I left the house with. I had a purse, pump bag, a computer bag, and a lunch/snack box. I looked like a bag lady and that did not include the diaper bag and car seat I will be leaving the house with when Jackson starts day care. I will have to get up 15 min earlier to get it all in the car. I might even need a suburban to get it all packed in.
