Gran and Paw

I have been telling Jackson that Gran and Paw were coming to hold him for the last several days and he has been really excited!! They saw him at the hospital, but did not get to hold their first great grand baby until today. I think they are smitten with each other. What do you think?

Gran Dan and Sheshe left today, but Gran and Paw are staying through Thursday to help me with the little fella then my mom (Munchkin) will be back on Thursday to help me again. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful family that can help us as much as they do. I know we would not have made it without them. Now I am just wondering what we will do after they all leave! I may keep them all on a weekly rotation until Jackson starts kindergarten!

We also had visitors from Oxford today. The Schoves came to visit us today and brought us lunch. It was great to see them and after they left I think Jackson was a little sleepy

Settling In

We have been home from the hospital a week today and we are settling into a routine. Jackson hangs out with one of his grandmother's in the mornings while I get 3 more hours of sleep, the rest of the day is filled with diaper changes, feedings, and then he hangs out with his dad when he gets home! They study together

They nap together.

And they watch ESPN together.

I just thought this was a cute picture -
Jackson also takes after his big brother Knox and sleeps with his tongue sticking out sometimes.

1 Week Old

Jackson was 1 week old yesterday and has already made so much progress!

He weighed 6lbs and 11oz at birth and 6lbs 4oz when we left. He still weighed 6lbs 4oz at his check up 2 days after we left the hospital which the nurse said was good. He has his first doctor's appointment next Thursday and I cannot wait to see how much he weighs now because he eats like a champ.

He eats every 3 hours for about an hour which is great for sleeping. He only wakes up every 3 hours at night now. Which I am really excited about. He started sleeping when we figured out he was gassy. The lactation consultant at the hospital told us breast fed babies don't need to be burped, but she didn't know Jackson is half Dickerson. We burp him and give him gas medicine after every feeding and he his a different baby. I am just excited it only took us 5 days to figure it out.

His eyes have turned more blue and he still hates getting his diaper changed. He just does not like being cold so when we strip him down he screams!!! Hopefully he will grow out of that soon.

He keeps his little hand up at his face all the time. He only straightens them out when he stretches which is adorable.
He is so little. The only clothes that fit him are Carter's new born onesies. Everything else is too big, but we make it work.

I know I am bias, but he is the most adorable baby boy in the world! I stare at him even when I should be sleeping.

Happy 1 week birthday Jackson!!!

Life at Home

It is hard to believe that Jackson will be 1 week old tomorrow. I want him to stay this size forever!! He is doing really well other than having his day and nights mixed up and he has started eating a lot more in the last two days so I am sure he is hitting a growth spurt. Being at home is great, but I could not have done it without my mom and Mrs. Shelia. They have taken turns helping me and without them I would have gone crazy by now! So a big THANK YOU to them. My Gran and Paw will be here on Sunday to take over when Mrs Shelia leaves. We are so blessed to have such a great family.

Other Visitors

We had so many visitors and I did not get pictures of everyone, but I did want to post the ones I had. I did get a picture of Russell and Matt's grandmother and aunt that came our second day in the hospital. Thank you to everyone that came to see us! We loved all the visitors and are so blessed to have such wonderful friends and family!Russell came to see Jackson, but did not want to hold him just yet. We told him he was not breakable, but he still held off. Maybe it's just me, but I did feel funny taking pictures with people while wearing pajamas. Any other moms out there feel this way too?

Jackson's great grandmother - Grandmaw! Mrs. Shelia's mother.

Jackson's Aunt Kelly - she is Mrs. Shelia's sister.

Happy Father's Day

Happy first Father's Day Matt, the best husband and father in the world! I told Matt that Jackson would be here in time for father's day and my prediction was right, a mother knows. Matt has only been a dad for 4 days and he is already a pro! Staying up with me at night to help when Jackson won't sleep, changing diapers, changing clothes, and just making sure Jackson and I are both taken care of!Father and son just minutes after Jackson was born!

Matt in awe of Jackson. He was only 4 hours old and Matt already knew what to do.

I came out of the bathroom in the hospital and this is what I saw. It was our last night there and we were all exhausted.

Big R loves his little guy too. My dad has on the shirt I gave him for father's day!!

And Gran Dan!! He loved him even though he was wearing an Ole Miss hat!
A big thank you to Matt and our fathers for being great dads!! Matt nor I would be the people we are today without them and Jackson is the most blessed little boy in the world to have Matt as a father.

Jackson's First Day at Home

Yesterday was Jackson's first day at home. We were discharged from the hospital and made it home around 1:00. He did so well when we got home! Elle and Knox of course went crazy trying to sniff and lick him, but it did not phase him at all, he just slept right through it. We put him in the bassinet while Mama and I put up everything and Matt ran errands. He slept so well and did not fuss at all. Fast forward to Friday night and apparently he was tired of sleeping. I am not exaggerating when I say Matt and I slept no more than 45 minutes at a time all night long. He cried and cried and cried. He was not wet or hungry. When I did feed him he spit up for the first time after I laid him down so I changed his clothes and bedding. A few minutes later he spit up again so I changed everything again. Finally around 4:00 we gave up and Matt let him sleep on his chest (please don't turn us into child services). I fed him at 6:00 and as soon as I was done we gave him to Munchkin and Matt and I went to sleep. I was more in shock than anything that he did not want to sleep and of course today he is sleeping like a champ! Matt and I even set our alarms last night to make sure we got up on time to feed him (ha ha! Are we first time paretns or what). Let's hope he sleeps tonight. Poor Matt is on call tomorrow so he is sleeping in the back bedroom and Mama is sleeping with me.

These were the pictures we took right before we left the hospital and on the ride home! Little Jackson slept the entire way.

Clones

Everyone that sees Jackson says he looks like Matt and I agree! What I did not realize is that they were clones. This is not a great comparison picture, but if you have seen Jackson in person this picture of Matt will take your breathe away! I will work on getting a better comparison picture, but what do you think?

Peanut Is Now Jackson!!

Our morning started out at 4:00 a.m. when my alarm went off. We had to be at the hospital at 5:00 a.m. in order to get checked in and ready for Peanut's arrival. Munchkin, Matt, and I made it to the hospital and settled in for what we thought was going to be a long day. I was a little nervous about labor and delivery, but Peanut made it easy on me. I was already 4cm dilated that morning and by 9:00 a.m. I had been induced and given an epidural. Time flew that entire morning. Matt and I just hung out watching TLC and at 11:30 my nurse told me this baby was ready to come. Everything I had worried so much about was turning out to be SO much easier than it looks on TV! I started to push at noon and by 12:21 Jackson Allen Miller arrived weighing 6 pounds 11 oz and measuring 19.5 inches long. Our lives will never be the same and we could not be happier. Words cannot express just how blessed we our.Proud parents. I could not believe it when I saw him. I had spent the last 9 months wondering what he would look like and now I knew.
Proud Papa!
Proud Mama.

He is my little man!! We both were looking at each other wondering "what just happened"

After Jackson was cleaned up and we got to spend a few minutes with him it was time to meet the rest of his family at the hospital! His She She.....

Gran Dan and She She

Munchkin
Munchkin and Big R. Big R was just glad to know his name finally!
All of the family including beaming great grand parents Gran and Paw!

Munchkin and Corey looking on! Munchkin couldn't wait to get her hands on him!

And she finally did! She has held him more than I have I think!

Then She She got her turn!

Proud Uncle Buster was a natural.

Finally it was Corey's turn. We had to make her take him! She was scared to death! As soon as she got him she handed him right back! It was so overwhelming she started crying!

The Miller Men!!

Gran Dan and She She

Bring on the guest! We had so many visitors the day Jackson arrived and we LOVED every minute of it! Morgan, Macey, and Laura fell in love with my little guy too, but how could you not?
Jackson's first day was a busy one, but he is the most loved baby in the world and we could not be happier he is here.

TOMORROW!!!!

The ticker may say 14 days to go, but my little Peanut will be here tomorrow!!!!!!

Baby Update

The update is there is no update :)!! Still on bed rest not doing anything, but feeling good. I have a doctor's appointment today at 3:15 and hopefully we will know more after that. I am 38 weeks today and my doctor said he would probably let me go into labor Wednesday or Thursday. Matt has requested Thursday since it works better with his schedule, while my schedule is GET THIS BABY OUT! It's not really that bad. I have been going stir crazy, but glad I have been able to spend the time with Gran and now my mom. Gran and I finally figured out a way to keep me occupied, she would run errands and I would sit in the car. My mom and I have been doing that too. It sounds crazy, but it gets me out of the house and out and about. Elle and Knox are loving the company for sure and it's not too bad to have dinner cooked for you every night! Matt asked if my mom or Gran could move in, they cook, clean, and keep me occupied.

On another topic Matt started his medicine rotation last week as all this baby craziness started. Bless his heart he has not had a day off yet. He is working as much as he can so he can use his (4 days off a MONTH) days off when the baby gets here. I know he is worn out and worried about me, but it taking it all in stride. It doesn't hurt though that he loves what he is doing now. He is not having to sit in a class all day, but instead gets to go check on patients all day. I think it helps keep him occupied and not worried about his ticking time bomb wife!

Maybe I will have more of a real update later today!

House Arrest Day 4

I know Peanut needs to stay in my belly as long as possible, but being on bed rest is KILLING me!! I have been working from home and hanging out with Gran, but the thought of not being able to do whatever I want is killing me. I would love to just get out and walk around the block and I NEVER want to workout!! My doctor wants me to make it to Wednesday or Thursday to deliver. I'll keep everyone posted on my house arrest!

False Alarm Number 2

This blog could also be called "The Boy Who Cried Wolf." That's what Matt said he was going to start calling Peanut. We made another trip to the hospital yesterday. I went to work on Monday wanting to finish everything up since I knew Peanut was getting ready to come. Well by 1:00 my contractions were 5 minutes apart and if you know anything about pregnancy that is when they want you to call. I called my doctor and he wanted me to come on in to the office. Jamie and Kimberly G were nice enough to take me!! After Dr. Carroll watched my contractions and saw that I was another cm dilated he sent me over to the hospital hoping he could slow Peanut down since I was not yet 37 weeks. After 7 hours my contractions had lightened up a little and I had not dilated any more they gave me the option to stay there and have my doctor check me in the morning or go home. I JUMPED at the chance to go home!! Everyone knows there is no such thing as a good night sleep in a hospital. We got home about 11:00 and I was so glad to get in my bed and I better get use to my bed because I am now on bed rest until Thursday. I have a doctor's appointment on Thursday and will hopefully know more then. I think Dr. Carroll will let Peanut come Thursday, but we will see. The good news is Gran is here to take care of me!! She always took care of me as a child when I was sick so she has a lot of practice and is really good at it.

Before all my crazy contractions started we (my mom and Mrs. Shelia) were able to put the final touches on the nursery this last weekend. The glider came in on Friday and Aunt Anna finished a canvas she did for her little nephew. Look how cute the room is!!

False Alarm

We had such a great weekend with our families here and getting everything finished in Peanut's room. So of course we would end the weekend with a trip to the hospital. At about 2:00 on my way over to Anna's to layout (with sun block on) I started having contractions. I was not real sure about them so I called the doctor on call and he wanted me to come in. After a 2 and a half hour visit they sent me home with contractions 9 minutes apart, but they want them to be 5 minutes apart for an hour. I have been tracking them all night and they are still very sporadic, but the longest I will go without one is 10 minutes. This is a little crazy. Oh and I am 1 cm dilated and Peanut is head down and effaced (spelling?)

My poor parents left this morning at 8:30 so they were on pins and needles waiting on an update from me when I was waiting in the hospital. Matt's parents are still here until Tuesday and Anna leaves for her summer long mission trip on Tuesday. I was hoping Peanut would come before she left, but he is not sure if he is ready yet.

In other news, my glider came in on Friday! Peanut's room is officially ready. I will get a final picture up soon. I will also keep everyone posted on my progress.

As if that was not enough news Matt is starting in the hospital tomorrow. He is excited to NOT being studying. So we have a lot going on. Being praying for us please.

Maximum Capacity

3 weeks to go and I have reached maximum capacity!! Little Peanut it growing stronger every day and killing me every time he moves. It use to be sweet when he moved, but he is so big now it HURTS!! I can't complain though because he is healthy and I feel great. My hair has even stopped fallen out. Thank God!! Especially since I have very little hair to begin with.

Get Ready. Get Set. GO!!

Matt has a week off until he has to start in the hospital and I took off Tuesday and Wednesday so we could relax a little, but work a lot. As my dad would say we have been doing our "stretching exercises" getting ready for Peanut's arrival. I had a LONG to do list for Matt and he has completed it in just a day and a half. As I write this he is now relaxing by playing Tiger Woods Golf on the Wii and he deserves it since he has put together more baby gear than should be allowed by law. That is what I would like to point out - the picture below is all of the baby gear we (Matt) put together. Does a 6 pound infant REALLY need all this stuff?
And the scary part is that this does not include all the stuff we put in the attic he will not use right at first. That is the picture below:Our little house can only hold so much.

We put everything in a spot throughout the house in preparation for Peanut. How odd does our den look with baby stuff in it? My parents still have Elle and Knox from the weekend, but when they get home they are NOT going to like these new items one bit. For one the swing is in front of their squirrel look out.Lastly - I think his room is ready for him. Matt laughed when I said that because he thinks it is funny I wanted pictures and curtains hung before I was ready for Peanut to come. The only thing we are missing is the glider/recliner, but it should be in at the earliest tomorrow or at the latest in 2 weeks. It will go in front of the window (I think).
